7:15 PM - Ray Perone - Division 1 Official who has worked the NCAA D-1 tournament for the past few years. Topic - "What To Say And When - Effective Communication".
Ray also has an officials' equipment business and will have some special prices for the officials in attendance.
8:15 PM - John Hughes - Division 1 Official - Two years ago John was dropped from the officiating staff of the Big East Conference; but, he bounced back and last season
he officiated 4 Division 1 Championship games in the Patriot, Northeast, MAAC, and American East Conferences. John also officiated the NIT Final and worked the NCAA Tournament.

Southern Maine Referee Camp, in affiliation with USM coach, Gary Fifield's AAU weekend, will offer a basketball camp for Western Maine IAABO #21 officials. The camp is structured to combine classroom instruction, two-person & three-person mechanics, game-tape analysis and lectures. Coach Fifield will coordinate all the AAU high school girl's games. The level of ball should provide good skill and competition. SMRC officials do varsity games only!
The 12th annual Ref Camp is designed to accommodate full time officials from noon Friday June 25th to the end of the day on June 27th (8am to 4pm)
This is a first come first served format with a cap of 20 referees!!
Earliest postmarks with a $50 dollar deposit will determine participants. 100% refund will be honored prior to June 1st.

The camp clinicians are here to help you improve as an official. They can recommend that an official be added or deleted from a college staff.
The Athletic Department Office at Lycoming College is “OFF LIMITS” to all officials.
The pool and weight room will be available for your use when these areas are open. The locker room at Lamade Gym is available for your use. The code is 24465.
Important…You are responsible for your room key. Please remember to return your key upon departure from the camp.
Q & A
Q. How will I find out about my strengths and weaknesses as an official?
A. Each game will have a court evaluator. The evaluators will give you immediate verbal feedback and provide you with a written observation. Please feel free to have as many discussions with the staff as you have questions or concerns. The NCAA mandates that coordinators do not provide written observations. Joe and Jim will adhere to that NCAA mandate.
Q. Where is the nightly social being held?
A. On Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights we will have social gatherings at the Sons of Italy, 144 Fourth Street . The nightly social start time will be at the conclusion of the last game of the evening. Beer, wine, soda, and munchies will be served. Sunday’s gathering will also feature pasta and salad. Each function will conclude between 11:30 and midnight. You are welcome to stay at the Sons of Italy after our function concludes.
Q. Is there any other lodging available to us? The dorms are HOT!!!
A. We have negotiated a lower rate at The Hotel Genetti for you. The rate is $65.00 a night. Most share with another official. The air-conditioning is worth the price. Just call 800-321-1388 and reference the “Lycoming Basketball Camp” to receive the special rate.

The dates for men’s staff camp will be Friday through Sunday, July 23-25. The men’s staff camp will be held at Kutztown University in conjunction with their team camp and will begin on Friday morning. I will be sending each of the men’s staff a brochure to register for the camp in early April.
The women’s staff camp will have two sessions (Women’s staff members will need to attend one). The women’s staff dates are July 26-28 or July 29-31. The women’s camp will begin on Monday morning for the first session and Thursday morning for the second session. The camp will be in conjunction with their women’s team camp. I will have registration information available by the beginning of April.
You will receive an attached brochure on the camp mailing. Some staff members will be asked to observe. If you are not an observer, you will be expected to work at one of the camps. These camps will have instruction as well as on the court work. Come to camp in shape and ready to work.

Atlantic 10 Conference – Developmental Camp
This camp has multi-purposes:
1. Improvement for current staff members from the 3rd and 4th Tier of the Atlantic 10
2. Improvement for current staff members of the Patriot League
3. Early Identification for current Div II, III, JuCo, and high school officials
4. Identification for Invitation to the Developmental Camp – July 5 – 8, 2009 @ Penn State
5. Identification for Scholarship to Penn State Camp – July 5 – 8, 2009
6. Become more visible to the clinicians and the Coordinators.
This is NOT a try out camp.
The camp will be conduct in one facility. Officials will be a team of officials with a Team
Leader. Each official will work 3 – 4 games on Friday and Saturday and 2 – 3 games on
Sunday. The final game of each day will be followed by a crew discussion and a crew self evaluation with the Team Leader. There are only 6 courts with 12 game sessions on Friday
and Saturday and 6 - 8 on Sunday. Friday and Saturday begin at 8:00 AM and ends after the 8:50 PM game. Sunday will begin at 8:00 AM and end after the 4:10 PM game.
Each team will have 2 – 3 Rules Brain-Drain Sessions using the NCAA Casebook for the basis of discussion.
The camp staff will consist of 4 Senior Clinicians; 4 Junior Clinicians; and 4 Referee Developmental Team Leaders. The staff includes one of the NCAA Regional Advisors.
The camp fee is $200.00. Those who worked in October “Game for Pay” in Philadelphia may attend for $150.00. Those who previously attended an Atlantic 10 Conference camp may also attend for $150.00.
The camp is limited to the first 54 officials who apply.

Equipment Needed (Mandatory): Several black and white striped official's shirts, black or dark blue shorts, whistles, referee shoes, towels, pillow, bed linens, personal items, blank VHS videotape, cassette recorder and tapes (optional), and extra batteries.
Cost: $375.00 - Includes meals, lodging, tuition, accident insurance, tape observations and camp t-shirt. $200.00 deposit due with registration, balance due by June 1, 2009. (Deposit is nonrefundable after May 1, 2009.) Checks returned for insufficient funds will prohibit camp attendance unless cash payment is made in advance.

The TB Pro-Active Basketball Officiating School is fully dedicated to helping any aspiring basketball referee. This is done by utilizing the expertise of an outstanding staff to personally guide and evaluate the daily progress of each camper.
This school is designed to improve the officiating level of each referee through a positive learning environment, which includes personal video taping of games, excellent facilities, top quality housing, healthy dining, and on-site training services.
